The Alabama Gospel Music Center is proud to host the internationally acclaimed African Children’s Choir for a performance Sunday evening, February 21, 2016 at 6 p.m. in the Sixth Avenue Baptist Church located at 1101 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive in Birmingham.

The African Children’s Choir is a program of the nonprofit Music for Life that promotes the beauty, dignity and unlimited ability of the African child around the world, being a voice for the millions of suffering children who cannot speak for themselves. Utilizing the transformative power of music, the program ensures the well-being and quality education for the children today so that they can go on to help Africa tomorrow. Working in seven African countries such as Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa, Music for Life has educated over 52,000 children and impacted the lives of over 100,000 people through its relief and development programs.

The African Children’s Choir has had to privilege to perform before presidents, heads of state and most recently the Queen of England for her Diamond Jubilee.  The choir has also had the honor of singing alongside artists such as Paul McCartney, Annie Lennox, Keith Urban, Mariah Carey and Michael W. Smith.

The performance in Birmingham will feature well-loved children’s songs, as well as traditional spirituals and gospel favorites. The concert is free and open to all. Donations will be accepted to support the African Children’s Choir and Music for Life programs.
