Alabama Gospel Center Approves Design Plan
December 7, 2010A design plan for the transformation of the former McCoy United Methodist Church facility into the Alabama Gospel Music Cultural Arts Center has been approved by the Center's board of directors, according to Constance H. Moore, board president.
"The design plan is an architectural analysis of the existing structures, which folds the desired program elements into redesigned spaces, resulting in a customized facility for artists and visitors alike," Moore said. Read more...

The Alabama Gospel Music Cultural Arts Center has announced the selection of Birmingham's Hoskins Architecture as the lead architect for its concept design phase in collaboration with Skolnick Architecture+Design Partnership, a New York firm that will serve as interpretive and exhibition designers. Old Birmingham church aims for joyful noise as gospel center
-The Birmingham News, January 3, 2011Pigeons fly in and out of a nest from a hole high above the choir stand in the sanctuary. The nearly 90-year-old building remains quiet apart from the echoed sounds of birds rustling deep within the walls, but the disrepair and signs of age seem invisible to Creig Hoskins and Constance Moore as they walk through the former McCoy United Methodist Church with flashlights, pointing to the stained glass, wood floors and wood-beamed, gabled ceilings. Plans on the move for gospel music center

Events
In efforts to fulfill the mission of preserving, promoting and sharing Gospel music, musical concerts have always served as a significant part of the events hosted by the Alabama Gospel Music Cultural Arts Center. The AGMCAC partners with Birmingham-Southern's One-A-Chord Gospel Choir to perform an annual Spring Concert. The 2010 Annual Spring Concert was a tremendous success thanks to the efforts of all involved.
